These Terms of Use explain the rules for using lifeshape. By using the site or signing in, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
1. Who we are
lifeshape is a small, early-stage project based in Auckland, New Zealand, building tools to help teens and young adults explore careers and shape a life that fits them. In these terms, “lifeshape”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to lifeshape, and “you” refers to the person using the service.
2. Who can use lifeshape
lifeshape is intended for teens and young adults. If you are under 16, you should use lifeshape with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and by using it you confirm you have their permission where that is required. You are responsible for making sure the information you give us is accurate.
3. Your account
You sign in using a Google or Microsoft account. You are responsible for keeping access to that account secure, and for activity that happens under your lifeshape account. Let us know promptly if you think someone has used your account without permission.
4. Early-stage service
lifeshape is being built in the open, working toward a public launch in 2027. That means features may change, break, or be removed, and the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis while we develop it. We appreciate your patience and feedback as we build.
5. Acceptable use
When using lifeshape, you agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights;
- attempt to access, disrupt, or damage the service or its security;
- misuse the service to harass, harm, or mislead others; or
- copy, scrape, or resell parts of the service without our permission.
6. Guidance is informational only
lifeshape offers career and life-direction information and tools to help you think things through. It is not professional careers, financial, legal, medical, or mental-health advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional. Decisions you make based on lifeshape are your own.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of anything you submit to us (for example, messages through the contact form). By submitting it, you give us permission to use it as needed to operate and improve the service and to respond to you. Please don’t submit content you don’t have the right to share.
8. Our content
The lifeshape name, logo, design, text, and other materials on the site belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial use, but you may not copy or reuse our content without permission.
9. Third-party links and services
lifeshape links to and relies on third-party services (such as Google, Microsoft, Supabase, PostHog, Netlify, Ko-fi, and Sleekplan). We aren’t responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information. By using lifeshape, you also agree to that policy.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, lifeshape is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other laws that cannot be excluded.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using lifeshape at any time. We may suspend or end access to the service if you break these terms or if we need to for legal, security, or operational reasons.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as lifeshape develops. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction over any disputes relating to them.
