Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how lifeshape collects, uses, and looks after your personal information when you use our website and services. We care about doing this properly — especially because many of the people we build for are young.

Who we are

lifeshape is a small, early-stage project based in Auckland, New Zealand, building tools to help teens and young adults explore careers and shape a life that fits them. In this policy, “lifeshape”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to lifeshape. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, you can reach us at lifeshapedev@gmail.com.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run and improve the service:

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive basic profile details from that provider — typically your name, email address, and profile identifier. Sign-in and accounts are managed for us by Supabase.
  • Usage and analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited and which features are helpful) so we can improve it. This may include your device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the actions you take on the site.
  • Messages you send us. If you fill in our contact form or email us, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email, age if you share it, and your message).

How and why we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • create and secure your account and sign you in;
  • provide, maintain, and improve the service;
  • understand what’s useful and fix what isn’t;
  • respond to your questions and feedback; and
  • meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve you targeted advertising.

Children and young people

lifeshape is designed for teens and young adults. If you are under 16, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian, and by using the service you confirm you have their permission where that is required. We aim to collect as little information as possible from young people and never use it for advertising. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information you would like removed, please contact us at lifeshapedev@gmail.com and we will help.

Third-party services we rely on

We use a small number of trusted providers to run lifeshape. Each has its own privacy practices, and your information is handled under their policies as well as ours:

  • Supabase — authentication and database.
  • Google and Microsoft — sign-in providers.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Netlify — website hosting and contact-form handling.
  • Ko-fi and Sleekplan — if you choose to support us or share feedback via those links.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to power the analytics described above. Most browsers let you control or block cookies in their settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly without them.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. If you close your account or ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to retain some of it.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, email us at lifeshapedev@gmail.com.

Keeping your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, including relying on reputable providers that offer strong security. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Where your information is stored

Some of our providers store and process information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected to standards comparable with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Changes to this policy

As lifeshape grows, we may update this policy. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
